Lately (Mexico edition)

Last week while many people were eating turkey and stuffing, wearing their stretchy pants and hopefully enjoying family and friends, I was eating tacos. We packed up 2/3 of our kids and some of our favorite friends and their kids and headed off to Mexico for the week. We have been talking about and trying to get to sunny Mexico for a few years now with all of our kids and we finally made it!

And it was pretty wonderful. Sunshine, ocean, tequila, tacos and rest.

Our family loves the beach. We spent days in the warm sea of cortez, surfing, body surfing, watching fish and floating on boats. We had a blast together, laughing and arguing, trying new foods and exploring downtown cabo most every night. We drove up to Todos Santos and wondered why we could never find seashells at any of the beaches we explored.

We played cards every night, fathers and sons bonding over spades while us ladies yelled over each round of nerts we lost to our daughters.

We slowed down to notice growth in each other. We told stories and listened to learn from one another.

Ten of us squished together in rooms and playing in the pool each day after swimming in the sea . Waking up to ask what should we do today. Is there anything better than a break from the norm? No dinner to make or schedule to stick to. No appointments or deadlines, school work or commute to the office.

A break. A pause. A redirection and refreshing.

On top of this I finished a book and started another one! One of my favorite parts of vacation is the space to read. Such a luxury these days to sit down and read a book.

Now on to Christmas preparation!
