Lately: End & Beginning

This post will be an all rolled into one situation. Let’s talk about how many books we read in 2023 and set goals for 2024.

My books read count is lower than previous years, but I can blame that on the fact that I have been in my last year of school. In years past I have kept a cute little drawing in the back of my planner with the books I read. This year I lost track. I’ve had to dig through my piles and foggy brain and loans list at the library.

My number for books read in 2023 is 26, I think… Again it’s a bit hazy. The one I keep thinking about is The Paper Palace by Miranda Cowley Heller. I will be adding a review of this book soon! Also, Tell Me Everything by Erika Krouse.

I figured I would add a couple links for you all with some cute ways to keep track of your reading for the year coming up.

I love a new year, a chance to start fresh. The truth is we can always start over, try something new. But there is something great about the turning over of the clock.

My dear friend Karen gave me a sweet little book a couple years back by Anne Bogel called My Reading Life: A book journal. Inside you can keep track of all the books you are reading, you can rate it, write a little synopsis etc. There are also lists of great books in many genres and habit trackers for your reading. Another easy option is to find a free printable on pinterest. There are adorable pictures you can write the titles in as you read. My daughter is drawing me one that I can send out as well. (Let me know in the comments if you are interested.) I like these as fast ways to keep track. You can easily draw your own with a bullet journal. I have an example of mine from a few years ago on my instagram post.

I have high hopes this year to go more in depth with my tracking by writing in my notes each book I read as well as a quick couple sentences about the book. My friend Betsy does this in her notes app and she can search back and see what she thought about a book. It has been helpful for our bookclub many times. We say “Betsy search your notes, did we like that book from years ago?!”

Ok tell me your book count for 2023, which one was most memorable and if you have any great ways to keep track of your reading for 2024.

Happy New Year of Reading friends!
